Upcoming Specialty Course Coming to S3 Athletics
We would like to announce that in the beginning of the new year, S3 will be implementing a specialty course of your all’s choosing. The courses we have to offer are Strongman/Strong Women, Intro to Strength Training, Bodybuilding, and Aerobic Capacity/Cardio Endurance. The Class will be Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15-7:15 for 8 weeks. What does each class have to offer and how do you choose what is best for you? Here is a quick summary of what each class will focus on.
Strongman/Strong Women-will be a course specifically designed to train you and prepare you for odd shaped equipment you may have to use for workouts or maybe even everyday life. We will go over proper techniques with using Axel Bars, Sandbags, Chains, Yoke Carries, and Farmer Carriers. Strongman is a unique strength sport and our goal is make you more confident in using this equipment and increase your maximal force production.
Intro to Strength Training- Many of you understand how we program throughout the week and the three week waves that we do. But we want to help you understand the why behind it and show you even more ways to get stronger. The introduction course will show you how to use Bands for Bench, Squat, Deadlift, and even Olympic lifting. The course will help you understand why accommodating resistance is one of the best principles to use to gain strength. The course will also go over the 5/3/1 Program by Jim Wendler who is one of the best to help athletes reach their maximal strength.
Bodybuilding- Everyone wants to look better, cause if you look good, you feel good. The bodybuilding course will help you learn the basics of doing isometric movements to target single muscles to help them get bigger stronger or leaner. This course will also still implement Squat Deadlift and Bench for those are some of the best ways for your body to adapt and really change itself. This course will have a lot of volume and going to failure so be ready to be sore but in a good way. Lastly, the course will go over some nutrition guidelines to help you either bulk up to gain muscle mass or how to properly cut to look lean as possible.
Aerobic Capacity/Cardio Endurance- Aerobic Capacity Is one of the most vital aspects of fitness. It is the highest amount of oxygen consumed during maximal exercise in activities that use the large muscle groups. This course will train your body and help your body to be able to give that maximal effort for longer time periods. Why is this important? If you’re a competitor or someone who likes to get the best times in the gym being able to get those extra reps in before you have to rest, or being able to go harder on the assault bike will help you out tremendously. Also, just everyday life if you were to get in a confrontation with someone wouldn’t you want your body to defend itself as long as possible at max effort? Lastly, this course will help create the base needed to make you a better runner, rower, and biker, and most importantly create a healthier heart which is the most important muscle of them all.
