Brittany has been a member with us at CFSS for quite a while now. Recently though, she’s kicked her training into high gear; and her results are amazing. We asked her about what is motivating her.
“A lot of people may not know this about me, but growing up I was never athletic. I never played any sports, and I was shy and a little awkward. That part hasn’t changed much. Haha. As stay at home mom of a toddler and an infant, starting CrossFit almost 3 years ago was an outlet to finally have some “me time”. I definitely wanted to become more in shape, but the thought of exercising in front of a group of people terrified me. It took me a good 7 months before I built up the nerve to finally give it a try, but after only one visit I knew it was going to change my life. Right away, I fell in love with the barbell, and 1 rep max days always had me excited. Crossfit has given so much more than just fitness, it has given me the confidence to believe in myself and to work torward goals I have no matter how hard they may be. In the past few years that I have been a part of CrossFit Strode Station, I have pushed my limits and been a part of several CrossFit competitions, the Rugged Red half marathon, and I am currently training for my 2nd powerlifting meet. It’s been a lot of trial and error along the way and it’s never easy, but there is no more satisfying feeling than being successful at something you have worked so hard at.”
Brittany also discussed the physical differences she’s seeing, and her results have been amazing. Another crazy tidbit was the fact that though she’s lost several inches in her waist, and toned up everywhere else as well, she actually weighs more in the picture on the right vs the picture in the left. When people are trying to get in shape, a lot become very dependent on the number they see on the scale to let them know hoe they’re progressing. This is a reminder that the best way to track your progress is measurements and photos. Don’t let yourself get discouraged when you don’t see that number move. Brittany, from everyone here at CFSS, we’re proud of you and we’re cheering you on!
